I may need to impose a voluntary moratorium on watching Nacho Libre. And here's why.
So, I'm attempting (again) to follow the life-journal bible reading plan (I use youversion.com to help me keep track). Today's reading included Jeremiah 51, which contains a few words about the uselessness of idols.
"The craftsmen are disgraced by the idols they make, for their carefully shaped works are a fraud. These idols have no breath or power." - Jeremiah 51:17
And in my mind, immediately I heard Nacho saying to Esqueleto:
"Those eggs were a lie, Esqueleto. A LIE! They give me no eagle powers! They give me no nutrients!"
Perhaps it's time for me to find a new favorite comedy. I'm open to suggestions.
As hilarious as this is, I've also heard way too many "Talladaga Nights" quotes to let them remain funny. Mel Brooks can get a little racey at the wrong time, silent comedies don't really offer any witty retorts. I actually can't offer anything, I'm too much into horror.
ReplyDeleteAlso, as random as it was, Nacho's reaction was very fitting for the reading in Jeremiah.
